Moseley Oak 17 - 10 Sutton Coldfield

Dreadful conditions at Billesley saw Moseley Oak take on a committed Sutton side determined to get out of the relegation zone.

Playing down the slope, Moseley's dominant scrummage began to pay dividends and a series of forward drives resulted in two tries in the first twenty minutes.

However, Sutton were industrious in attack and as a bit more possession came their way Moseley had to defend robustly. Oak had other chances but made crucial errors in sight of the try line.

The second half went back and forth and Sutton got a foothold in the game with a number of penalties. They were rewarded with an unconverted try on the left after a period of pressure.

Moseley went back to basics and repeatedly drove Sutton back with powerful forward thrusts. Willibrod Mbatangie saw an opening and swatted two tacklers away before touching down to confirm the victory. Sutton scored a consolation try after charging down an Oak clearance, which was just reward for their efforts.

The final score was 17-10, a fitting celebration for Jack Richards who was making his 200th 1st XV appearance for the club. Four points for Moseley Oak and now fifth place in the table.
