Melbourne 7 - 24 Moseley Oak

Moseley Oak travelled to newly promoted Melbourne following a very limited pre-season and with a number of new players.

Moseley began well and built pressure and despite missing a penalty after 13 minutes a converted try soon followed. Good work however was disrupted on a number of occasions by aggressive work at the breakdown from Melbourne, whose tackling was committed throughout.

A half time lead looked likely before defensive confusion allowed Melbourne's scrum half to break and create a score under the posts. The half time score was 7-7.

Moseley began the second half looking to pin the opposition back with a kicking game before the balance of the match changed with a red card for Melbourne, after an incident which saw the Moseley winger receive lengthy attention from the physio.

Ollie Thomas scored the second try while the third came after sustained pressure and fast feet from Andrew Fluker.

The bonus point try came from James Weaver after a clever offload from Charley Thomas, leaving the final score at 7-24.

A good start and another challenging away fixture next week at Worcester.
