Moseley Oak 43 Sutton Coldfield 21

Moseley Oak moved into the upper half of the Midlands One table for the first time since their promotion. A good Friday evening crowd turned out to see this fixture and they were well entertained throughout.

Sutton Coldfield were in National League 3 in the season before last and were clearly going to be a tough challenge. While this proved to be the case, Moseley Oak produced a very impressive first half performance to lead 36-0 at the break.

The scoring opened with an Alex Crisp penalty which was closely followed by a try from loose head prop Hameed Ajayi. A fine individual try from James Williams was next after strong running down the slope from the forwards and almost from the re start a 50 metre break from Gareth Jones led to a try from Charley Thomas.

Further scores came from Simon Homer and Tom Johnson. The second half saw Sutton playing down the slope and their speedy backs soon got them on the scoreboard with a good try. Moseley countered with a second Charley Thomas try after good work from Tom Johnson while the final 2 scores came from the enterprising play of Sutton Coldfield.

Moseley Oak face Whitchurch at home next Saturday for round 5 in Midlands 1.
