Stratford upon Avon 11 Moseley Oak 17

Moseley Oak travelled to Stratford to take on a side who were several places higher in Midlands 1 and who had put together some excellent results.

That they came away with a victory having battled through 2 yellow cards and what seemed an endless stream of penalties against them is of huge credit to them.

Stratford began very well, supported by a good and hospitable home crowd. Waves of attack came in the first 8 minutes, however the defence held with Moseley's back row forwards conspicuous in their tackling.

Moseley won a penalty, kicked for touch, won the line out and attacked again. Ball retention was good, another penalty resulted and from a quick tap, Charley Thomas scored on the left. Ollie Thomas converted.

Stratford came back with good possession and forced a penalty which was pushed wide.

Back came Moseley Oak through their forwards and following a strong drive from Duncan White, Charlie Harvey stormed over, Ollie Thomas adding the extras.

Penalties were exchanged towards the end of the half to give an interval lead of 17-3

Stratford dominated play in the second half, however, a combination of resolute defence, several turnovers, a competitive line out and deep kicking from Ollie Thomas limited Stratford to an unconverted try from their scrum half and a penalty kick on the last play to give them a bonus point.

A very hard earned and crucial point to put Moseley Oak in 6th place having won 4 from the last 5 games with the crisis of late October and early November well behind them.

Sutton Coldfield away next Friday under lights.
